The word “deluxe” has the same root as the word “luxury” and often the deluxe package in a hotel is the luxury standard in that establishment. Of course this may vary between different luxury hotels, but often the deluxe package includes more than just a large room with a view and a champagne bottle waiting for you on top of the table with some complimentary chocolate.
With the increase in offer from luxury hotels and with the increase of choice of travel destinations that the average holiday goer has nowadays, due mainly to the advent of low cost airliners, luxury hotels have had to step up their game when it comes to commodities, facilities, customer service and prices. Luxury gyms, spas and swimming pools have popped up in hotels all over the world, along with extensive room service options.
There was a time when people gladly paid extra just to stay in a five star hotel, and just to be able to say they did so. The rich décor and the status was enough to make them go there. Nowadays, the modern tourist is more demanding, and hotels as expensive as luxury hotels have to provide their patrons with a wide range of activities and entertainment options to keep them busy and happy.
